Dec 12 (Day 1) – Holiday Fire Safety 2025 – Holiday Lights (English Descriptive Text)

[Title card appears on-screen saying “HOLIDAY LIGHTS DURING THE FESTIVE SEASON”]

Harsh Patel: You have a life today. If you care and if you prevent, you're going to have a life tomorrow.

[Fire Prevention Officer Harsh Patel, in a full formal fire uniform, walks toward the camera in slow motion, smiling as he stops right before the camera.]

Harsh Patel: My name is Harsh Patel. I'm a Fire Prevention Officer with the Kitchener Fire Department.

[Head-on shot of Patel inside the upper balcony of his fire station from approximately the waste up. These shots mix with a secondary shot of him from a profile angle throughout the interview. Interview shot cuts to string lights on a green, indoor Christmas tree, followed by a shot of vibrant lights in the shape of snowflakes and stars outside on some trees without leaves. There is also a life-size Santa Claus ornament that features blinking LED lights as well.]

Harsh Patel: Holiday lights, no matter what festival you are celebrating, they are always in the centre of celebration. My personal experience is yes - I did have a couple of sparks by plugging them into, because of the loose connections plugging them into extension cords.

[Various shots in succession of Patel’s desk and work area, including a name plate, holiday elf plush toys and Patel at his desk typing on his keyboard.]

Harsh Patel: Before coming into this role, I never looked at light certifications or what the lights are and how I use them around my house: I never thought of it and I never looked for it. You want to inspect before you connect. Take five minutes of your time. Inspect those lights. Wires.

Harsh Patel: Look for your family's safety first so you can have a cheery and enjoyable holiday season.

[Slow motion shot of Patel standing at his workstation in front of his computer monitors smiling as the shot fades to black.]
