Associate Minister Trevor Jones: I’m Trevor Jones, Associate Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response.

Associate Minister Trevor Jones: Now that winter weather is here, we’re reminding you to be prepared for snowstorms, power outages and road closures.

Here are a few tips to help you to prepare for whatever winter brings.

Associate Minister Trevor Jones: Have an emergency plan for your household that includes important contacts, evacuation routes and copies of documents like passports or birth certificates.

Associate Minister Trevor Jones: Next, ensure your household has an emergency kit with enough non-perishable food, water and essentials to stay self-sufficient for up to 3 days.

Whether that kit is in your home or car, make sure it includes things like extra blankets, sweaters and coats to stay warm.

Associate Minister Trevor Jones: Finally, keep an eye on the forecast and make sure you have multiple ways to stay informed in case of an emergency.

Associate Minister Trevor Jones: As we welcome family home for the holiday season, remember we all share the responsibility for the safety of our loved ones.

Stay safe everyone.
